"Clybourne Park" implodes on Broadway

Bruce Norris's corrosive play Clybourne Park, about real estate and racial replacement in Chicago, was set to debut on Broadway in April, where it was tagged as the frontrunner for the Tony Award for best drama. But producer Scott Rudin has stomped off, peeved that Norris turned down his offer of a role in something else Rudin is producing. Much brouhaha followed in the New York press.

To get a clear picture of what the play is actually about, which you can't anywhere else, read what I wrote about Clybourne Park last year for Taki's Magazine.

Off topic.
I hope Mr. Unz doesn't mind, but this is one of the funniest things I've ever read from you:

"I emailed the author...we concluded
that anybody whose first reaction is to
contact Charles Murray to discuss one’s
taste (or lack thereof) in beer was kind
of missing the point of his survey."

Just to make it two comments than just a lonely ONE.

Sheeet, did too many black actors move in?

Well, I'll speculate that Rudin thought the play was so non-PC that he would lose some friends, so he found an excuse to let someone else take the heat.

Somebody leaked that YOU thought the play was interesting, Steve. They all ran pointing and sputtering for the exits. Now it's back to controversial musical rehashes and snoozers about AIDS.
